Education

In education, we have ambitious goals for improving the academic achievement of disadvantaged children, particularly in Kansas City’s urban core. We believe, as did Ewing Kauffman, that our education investments will do more than anything else to help students earn self-sufficiency, find jobs, raise their families, and become productive citizens. Toward that end, the Foundation works with partners to support programs that directly impact a child’s academic achievement, with a concentrated focus on math, science, and technology skills.

Education Topics

Math & Science

The Foundation's commitment is a long-term, multifaceted approach to help the Kansas City area become a model for outstanding math and science education. Our ambitious goal is to provide students in our schools with an increased understanding of how math and science can be applied to solve real-world problems. We also believe we can make the Kansas City region a national model in how it equips its students with the math and science skills.

Academic Achievement

The Kauffman Foundation develops and supports programs aimed at advancing the academic achievement of children in Kansas City. We fund programs built on the most promising school models and the out-of-school programs that take the most effective approaches to reach kids.
